The History

Ajmer was founded by the King of Chauhans, Ajayraj Singh, in 7th century A.D., now-ruined Taragarh Fort protected the sprawling metropolis. During the Mughal era, Ajmer was home to revered Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Thus making it a popular pilgrimage site, often visited by the emperors & empresses of the time. The Dargah is visited around the year by political leaders & celebrities of the current generation. Lately, Ajmer has also developed into one of Rajasthan’s first-ever smart cities.

The closest airport to Ajmer is in Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital, roughly 140 kilometers away. After reaching the airport, you can hire a cab, travel via bus or train to Ajmer. Alternatively, you can travel to Ajmer via road as well, thanks to the city being located in the middle of Delhi & Mumbai (National Highway 8). Both government & private buses ply regularly from most Northern Indian towns.
