The History Ajmer was founded by the King of Chauhans, Ajayraj Singh, in 7th century A.D., now-ruined Taragarh Fort protected the sprawling metropolis. During the Mughal era, Ajmer was home to revered Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. Thus making it a popular pilgrimage site, often visited by the emperors & empresses of the time.
